Hi.

Good news is rare these days, and every glittering ounce of it should be cherished and hoarded and worshipped and fondled like a priceless diamond.

Tamea Scales Brings Diva Legs Holiday Cheer to the South Bay

Tamea Scales Brings Diva Legs Holiday Cheer to the South Bay

Discover the Winter Wonderland Journey of the Self-Made Celebrity Stylist

Although she rarely models, Tamea Scales is a veteran on the runway. The self-made “celebrity” fashion stylist gives wings of character to her designs. Scales styles and produces shows that move audiences past the stage. Her figure has become increasingly popular, popping anywhere from Los Angeles and the South Bay.

Her latest endeavor at the South Bay Pavilion Mall Winter Wonderland fashion show this winter was a partnership with a few of our favorite brands, Old Nay, Forever 21, Rue 21, JCPenney. Her storyline and characters were a handful of local aspiring models, filled with holiday excitement for their first runway experience. From three years old to 40 they were thrilled to audition for the celebrity artist whose styling projects include the BET Awards, the LA Fashion Week, costuming of various feature films and clients such as Mischa Barton and Omari Hardwick. More than a Hollywood experience, the winter wonderland fashion show was a chance for the local Carson community to celebrate as their daughters, granddaughters and other aspiring models smiled to the beats of the approaching holidays styled in sequins, sparkles, sweaters, red coats and cute poses. In the spirit of storytelling, Scales impressed an audience that isn’t necessarily fashion runway savvy but excited to have a front row seat in this production. After the show the mother of a model later stops by the Forever 21 store in th mall. She reaches to a little dress of golden and pink sequin hues, amazed it would be available to her only moments after it was modeled on the runway.  For the evening Scales’ gives life to fashion and a certain exclusivity to the brands, embellishing its beauty on the usually regular sales hangers.

“I enjoy creating the looks that the consumer wouldn’t necessarily see by looking at the rack themselves,” says Scales.

It is not the first time Scales designs this kind of fashion runway joy. Under the same collaboration with the Southbay Pavilion Mall, she produced and styled their spring and back-to-school themes. At the helm of her artistic expression is Diva Legs, a brand that mirrors her model like artistic endeavors and figure. “Diva Legs wasn’t necessarily created with a business entity in mind at all. Once I became aware of what my own personal talents were and I became out of the shadows of others - assisting or working alongside, I decided to take my social media name - people would randomly call her Diva Legs - and I said why not use it to my advantage and see where it takes me?”

The “Diva Legs” also invests her energy in beautiful missions such as Fashionably Aware. The organization stems out of personal disappointment that reached “home” too many times. In her mid 20’s she lost a dear friend of only 24 years old to breast cancer. Her mother Patricia Scales is also a breast cancer survivor. Since then every year in April – during her mother’s birth month – Scales brings together women on a fashionably aware mission along their personal journeys. She and her mother have made a pact to encourage women through fashion services and events to embrace a beautiful and healthy lifestyle. Following in the footsteps of the popular saying, “true beauty begins inside,” Scales says it best, “get tested, follow up with yourself and be aware.”

“With Fashionably Aware I would like to grow and be able to host anywhere between 300 to 500 women, and encourage the speakers and everyone that I have worked with to continue the mission. I want people to know that I am more than just being a stylist or a wardrobe costumer. I am a creator and a chameleon that is able to fit into any industry. If you want to be able to step out of the box, present an event, a show or an idea in a more creative light then I am a girl. Come see me!”

When asked in some ways, the future of her projects makes Scales slightly jittery, a feeling that she embraces as a challenge. If anything is certain, the diva legs on the self-discovery journey, connects the celebrity of Hollywood with the smile of a grandparent seeing her grandchild shine on the stage for the first time. She costumes past apparel’s design and into the hearts of those lucky to have discovered her passion for fashion.
